Criticism of Plato in the 20th century: political aspect

The increased interest of the thinkers of the last century to Plato’s philosophy, especially to his political projects, is not difficult to explain. The great convulsions that led to the reshaping of the political map of Europe and the changing balance of power around the world required adequate reflection and explanation at the ideal level. The reference to «authority» in this connection acquires a special, truly ideological value. The political ideas of Plato anew and in a new light are understood by those philosophers who criticized authoritarian and totalitarian state regimes and called the ancient philosopher an apologist of anti-liberal orders.
In the Report the main points of Plato’s political philosophy are held, logic and arguments of the most famous critics of Plato of the 20th century are made clear, an attempt to deny their reasons and to show the weakness of their arguments is also undertaken.
