The author of the article comprehends the logos principle of God's Providence about the world and man in St. Maximus the Confessor. The origins of this doctrine in philosophical and theological tradition are considered. The author also analyzes the images of interaction between the logos of Providence and personal freedom of man in St. Maximus.
