Basilios Bessarion on the best form of government*
In his Comparatio Aristotelis et Platonis, George of Trebizond blames Plato for the alleged approval of tyranny (it was George’s political views that to a considerable degree made him dislike the philosopher intensively). The paper analyzes the contents of Basilios Bessarion’s counter-argument. We can assume that the discourse on the best form of government in In Calumniatorem Platonis is a kind of political credo.
