Social and political conception of Plato in the perception of V. Windelband
The article considers the understanding of the socio-political concept of Plato by the German historian of philosophy V. Windelband. The German researcher estimates Plato’s doctrine of the state system as fantastic and non-progressive, denying democracy as a form of government and restricting human freedom «to the supreme».
According to Windelband, Plato presents the ideal state system in two possible types of state in which the spiritual content and the value of Greek culture are destroyed: the military-estate republic and the agricultural police state.
