Alexander Egunov's heritage in the history of Russian science*

Andrei Nikolaevich Yegunov (1895-1968) received an excellent philological education in St. Petersburg-Petrograd before the revolution of 1917, and later proved himself as an outstanding worker of national culture in the most difficult times of Russia. He made a significant contribution to Russian literature, both as a poet and writer, and as a critical researcher. He also contributed to the development of Russian philological science, in particular to the improvement of the art of translation, especially from ancient languages. Thus, Yegunov's most significant contribution to Russian science is his translations into Russian of Plato's dialogues the "Laws" and the "Republic."

Keywords: Alexander Egunov, Plato, translation, history of science
